Japan to issue digital vaccine passport: Nikkei

(Reuters) - Japan is set to issue digital health certificates to citizens who have been vaccinated against COVID-19, joining China, the EU and other countries that have adopted similar measures aimed at opening up overseas travel, the Nikkei reported https://s.nikkei.com/3stfAX6 on Saturday.

In line with international standards, the certificate can be managed on a mobile app, allowing the carrier to present the proof of vaccination when boarding a plane or checking in to a hotel, the report said.

The app is also focused on foreigners staying in Japan and returning to their respective home countries, according to the report.

most countries have required vaccines for many diseases over the years to travel there. This is nothing new.
Its a paseport that you will uses locally in your country. You will have to be vaccinated many times per years to keep the pss green. Its a 1 trillions business
Since when it has been confirmed that the vaccines prevent transmission of the virus? Preventing serious symptoms or getting sick in general is different from transmitting the virus. I don't know anymore if they are just desperately trying to do "something" while being clueless at the same time or it's a deliberate action to further restrict people's freedoms. What's next? Passes to travel from city to city? I feel serious USSR vibes here.
Yup, I think this is going to be a huge mistake because people will let off their guards and actually get infected easier.  Those vaccines are not 100% effective.  Have been on the market for a few months and yet the number of new cases and deaths have not fallen back to those seen in the first wave.
