(Reuters) - Chinese telecoms equipment maker Huawei Technologies Co Ltd is expected to receive planning permission this week to build a 400-million-pound ($494.24-million) research and development centre in Britain's Sawston village, the Sunday Times newspaper reported.

The facility, 7 miles (11 km) from Cambridge, will be built for researching and developing chips for use in broadband, according to the report.

Anything for a few jobs...
Brits tired of ideological conflicts
Planning permission only
5 eyes are just minority of the world population. China can actually ignore them.
That would be a mixed message.. The people definitely dont want it
more tech piracy
It is going to be bad for US going forward. Now China is focus on making their own chips so no more sanctions can be done going forward.
I told you guys......every country loves Huawei and China. US is so bad trying to ban a company just because we are behind. Huawei is much the undisputed 5G leader. That is why we have to allow US companies to work with Huawei the other day, because if we don't, we will be left out of the 5G standards.
I would never trust Chinsect infrastructure. The US might spy on me but there are laws on what they can do with that information. there is no protection from the Chinsect plague.
Too bad if you don't trust China....because right now most telecom companies already have Huawei in their infrastructure for the decades. China is clearly becoming the new world order. Go read Dalio's The New World Order, showing China fast becoming number 1 and US falling down.
exactly
why wow why would the Brits step squarely and firmly into that pile? Are they desperate?
