Chinese electric vehicle maker, XPeng (NYSE:XPEV) held its fifth annual Tech Day in Guangzhou on Tuesday where the automaker revealed a series of innovative technological milestones and pioneering industry accomplishments.
This year’s event showcased the most recent progressions in XPENG's XNGP ADAS, smart cabin system, powertrain system, electrical and electronic architecture, smart manufacturing, flying car, and robot technology.
However, the highlight of the event was the grand introduction of the starship-inspired XPENG X9, a spacious 7-seater MPV. The X9 boasts a remarkably futuristic and innovative exterior and serves as the flagship model developed under the SEPA2.0 architecture.
“The innovative advancements powering our industry-leading ADAS and new EV models help actualize the technological evolution shaping today’s EV industry,” said CEO, He Xiaopeng during the event.
The sole MPV worldwide with rear-wheel steering as a standard setup, the X9 exemplifies the fundamental attributes of SEPA 2.0 through its distinctive offerings, which include a cutting-edge 800V high-voltage SiC platform, the incorporation of integrated front and rear aluminum body die-casting technology, and the revolutionary XNGP, among others.
Introducing the XOS Tianji smart cabin system, the X9 marks a groundbreaking milestone for XPENG. The unveiling of the X9 is scheduled for the Auto Guangzhou event in November 2023.
The automaker also introduced a brand-new ADAS innovation known as the AI Valet Driver. Once enabled, this feature allows drivers to designate their starting and ending points within the city. By manually driving the route initially, a stored pathway is established. Subsequently, when selecting the same route, the driver can activate the "AI Valet Driver" function to access advanced assisted driving for specific routes or city-based scenarios.
“Our comprehensive, integrated full-stack, in-house R&D capabilities and robust mobility ecosystem continue to make XPENG a standout choice for consumers looking for EVs with cutting-edge technology at [accessible] price points," added He Xiaopeng.
Shares of XPEV are up 10.53% in afternoon trading Tuesday.
