Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 4.05% or 47.00 points to trade at 1207.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) added 3.82% or 12.50 points to end at 340.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 2.96% or 17.40 points to 606.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which fell 6.98% or 56.00 points to trade at 746.40 at the close. Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) declined 4.53% or 74.40 points to end at 1568.80 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) was down 3.83% or 93.00 points to 2332.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1027 to 1021 and 324 ended unchanged.
Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.98% or 56.00 to 746.40.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.37% or 4.50 to $1223.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 6.79% or 3.71 to hit $50.92 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 6.09% or 3.81 to trade at $58.79 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.50% to 1.2812, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8846.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 96.828.
