Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 7.85% or 62.80 points to trade at 863.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 6.97% or 109.20 points to end at 1675.40 and Capita PLC (LON:CPI) was up 6.24% or 6.45 points to 109.75 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK), which fell 7.62% or 123.6 points to trade at 1498.0 at the close. Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) declined 2.80% or 7.00 points to end at 243.00 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) was down 2.20% or 8.50 points to 377.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1316 to 816 and 297 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.10% or 13.50 to $1239.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.12% or 1.59 to hit $52.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.63 to trade at $61.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.2748, while EUR/GBP rose 0.45% to 0.8911.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 96.815.
