Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were G4S PLC (LON:GFS), which rose 4.83% or 8.90 points to trade at 193.20 at the close. Meanwhile, AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) added 3.84% or 146.00 points to end at 3944.50 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.81% or 54.000 points to 1470.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which fell 13.84% or 89.90 points to trade at 559.50 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 8.96% or 13.0500 points to end at 132.5500 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was down 7.92% or 169.000 points to 1964.500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1166 to 852 and 487 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 2.29% or 29.65 to $1264.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.53% or 1.13 to hit $43.53 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.39% or 1.54 to trade at $43.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.4411, while EUR/GBP rose 0.15% to 0.7913.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.04.
