Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs, Real Estate and Aerospace & Defense sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 lost 0.44% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Persimmon (LONDON:PSN), which rose 1.63% or 32.00 points to trade at 1991.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Barratt Developments Plc (LONDON:BDEV) added 1.48% or 9.00 points to end at 618.50 and SKY PLC (LONDON:SKYB) was up 1.36% or 14.00 points to 1043.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Experian Plc (LONDON:EXPN), which fell 2.88% or 35.00 points to trade at 1179.00 at the close. Land Securities Group Plc (LONDON:LAND) declined 2.52% or 32.00 points to end at 1236.00 and British Land Co Plc (LONDON:BLND) was down 2.46% or 20.50 points to 812.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1531 to 1109 and 373 ended unchanged.
Shares in Persimmon (LONDON:PSN) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.63% or 32.00 to 1991.00. Shares in Barratt Developments Plc (LONDON:BDEV) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.48% or 9.00 to 618.50.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.43% or 5.10 to $1175.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 1.21% or 0.73 to hit $59.72 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.95% or 0.60 to trade at $63.09 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.43% to 1.5714, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.7156.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 95.25.
