Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Mobile Telecommunications, Electricity and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors led shares lower.
At the close in London, the FTSE 100 fell 0.71%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE 100 were Weir Group (LONDON:WEIR), which rose 4.25% or 74.00 points to trade at 1813.00 at the close. Meanwhile, ITV Plc (LONDON:ITV) added 2.28% or 5.50 points to end at 246.50 and Hargreaves Lansdown Plc (LONDON:HRGV) was up 1.65% or 19.00 points to 1170.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randgold Resources (LONDON:RRS), which fell 5.27% or 255.00 points to trade at 4581.00 at the close. Fresnillo Plc (LONDON:FRES) declined 5.16% or 38.00 points to end at 698.50 and Intu Properties Plc (LONDON:INTUP) was down 3.92% or 14.20 points to 348.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1176 to 864 and 404 ended unchanged.
Shares in ITV Plc (LONDON:ITV) rose to all time highs; rising 2.28% or 5.50 to 246.50.
Gold for April delivery was down 2.44% or 29.20 to $1167.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April fell 1.71% or 0.87 to hit $49.89 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.33 to trade at $60.16 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 1.23% to 1.5054, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.7210.
The US Dollar Index was up 1.35% at 97.70.
