Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.65% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 9.16% or 53.60 points to trade at 638.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 5.08% or 22.750 points to end at 470.700 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 4.98% or 7.0500 points to 148.5500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which fell 2.97% or 25.00 points to trade at 817.00 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) declined 2.35% or 90.00 points to end at 3742.00 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) was down 1.75% or 35.00 points to 1960.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1135 to 980 and 448 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.12% or 1.50 to $1256.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 3.07% or 1.24 to hit $41.60 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 3.34% or 1.43 to trade at $44.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.4245, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.7995.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.09% at 94.05.
