Trump Slams GM as U.S. Workforce Shrinks to Detroit’s Smallest Automaker

(Bloomberg) -- U.S. President Donald Trump criticized General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) for shrinking its U.S. manufacturing presence, which has reduced the company’s unionized workforce to the smallest among Detroit’s automakers.

August 30, 2019

“General Motors, which was once the Giant of Detroit, is now one of the smallest auto manufacturers there,” Trump tweeted Friday, a day after Bloomberg News reported GM employed fewer United Auto Workers-represented employees than Ford Motor (NYSE:F) Co. or Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV. The president called for GM to “start moving back to America again.”

UAW = lazy + corruption. no reason for GM not to shrink
Choose 1 - Increase income tax or cut budget for roads and education, so that Holden is still viable in Australia- Outsource to Asia, providing them jobs at a price 8x cheaper than the labor in Australia and them being able to feed two generations
He doesn't get it. American labor cost = higher prices = increased inflation = higher interest rates, repeat. He can't cut corporate taxes enough to make it profitable. It doesn't matter anyways. His main objective is to get himself re elected. There is only one focus point for him...himself.
Does he really think that they can bring production back and then sell to China at twice the price? He really has no clue..
AND.. those GM plants are partnerships with Chinese companies. Not solely owned by GM
Its happening in Australia as well, where losing jobs to asia too. i wish we had a prime minister that would reverse this trend
