A tech chief executive spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on a Super Bowl commercial warning about Tesla's (NASDAQ:TSLA) self-driving technology.

Dan O'Dowd, the Green Hills Software CEO, ran a 30-second ad calling for the ban of Tesla's Full Self-Driving feature, his latest attack on Elon Musk and his electric vehicle firm.

In a tweet on Sunday, O'Dowd said he is "trying to remove the worst, most incompetently designed, developed, and tested automotive product on the market."

The ad supposedly shows "critical safety defects" in Tesla's Full Self-Driving.

O'Dowd has been a fierce critic of FSD, taking out a full-page ad against Tesla in the New York Times and also running for the U.S. Senate on one issue, which was to get Tesla FSD cars off the road.

O'Dowd's videos, which claim FSD's "critical safety defects" would run down a child, have been questioned by some, but the Green Hills CEO tweeted on Saturday:

"We publish footage of each test, including multiple angles showing controls not touched, and fanboys still confidently assert we faked them! To remove all doubt that these severe safety defects are real we invite @ElonMusk, @NHTSAgov, the media to witness a public demonstration."

However, responding to the latest attack from O'Dowd, Musk said it "will greatly increase public awareness that a Tesla can drive itself (supervised for now)."
