Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Other Electronic, Optoelectronic and Computers & Peripherals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 1.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Kian Shen (TW:1525), which rose 10.00% or 7.50 points to trade at 82.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Generalplus (TW:4952) added 9.97% or 3.60 points to end at 39.70 and Giantplus (TW:8105) was up 9.86% or 1.70 points to 18.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yoko Tech (TW:6131), which fell 9.97% or 1.65 points to trade at 14.90 at the close. Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) declined 9.91% or 1.65 points to end at 15.00 and Twinhead Intl (TW:2364) was down 7.93% or 0.28 points to 3.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 681 to 161 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906) fell to 3-years lows; down 9.91% or 1.65 to 15.00. Shares in Giantplus (TW:8105) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.86% or 1.70 to 18.95.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.06% or 0.03 to $41.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $44.65 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.58% or 6.30 to trade at $1077.30 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.76% to 32.767, while TWD/CNY fell 0.16% to 0.1931.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 99.67.
