Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Plantations and Construction & Engineering sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share lost 1.13% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were PC House PLC (CM:PCHO), which rose 50.00% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.200 at the close. Meanwhile, SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) added 12.50% or 0.10 points to end at 0.80 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) was up 9.09% or 0.10 points to 1.10 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Office Equipment PLC (CM:OFEQ), which fell 18.41% or 428.70 points to trade at 1900.00 at the close. PC Pharma PLC (CM:PCPH) declined 16.67% or 0.10 points to end at 0.50 and Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) was down 14.71% or 2.50 points to 14.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 186 to 37 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) rose to 52-week lows; up 12.50% or 0.10 to 0.80. Shares in Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) rose to 5-year lows; rising 9.09% or 0.10 to 1.10.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.76% or 0.58 to $32.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 2.09% or 0.71 to hit $33.22 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.51% or 5.60 to trade at $1103.50 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.53% to 208.935, while USD/LKR fell 0.16% to 143.655.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.60.
