Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Diversified Holdings and Investment Trust sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.54% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Selinsing PLC (CM:SELI), which rose 17.80% or 240.20 points to trade at 1590.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC (CM:ASHO) added 17.22% or 181.90 points to end at 1238.00 and SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) was up 16.67% or 0.1000 points to 0.7000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tea Smallholder Factories PLC (CM:TSML), which fell 16.67% or 4.00 points to trade at 20.00 at the close. East West Properties PLC (CM:EAST) declined 10.88% or 1.60 points to end at 13.10 and Guardian Capital Partners PLC (CM:WAPO) was down 10.03% or 3.90 points to 35.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 108 to 44 and 53 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 2.27% or 1.22 to $54.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 2.22% or 1.26 to hit $58.08 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.85 to trade at $1148.85 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.17% to 183.830, while USD/LKR rose 0.11% to 149.950.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.86% at 103.25.
