Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 2.28%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Cellnex Telecom SA (MC:CLNX), which rose 0.70% or 0.10 points to trade at 14.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) added 0.08% or 0.10 points to end at 119.05 and ACS Const. (MC:ACS) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 25.400 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which fell 4.63% or 0.208 points to trade at 4.288 at the close. Banco Popular (MC:POP) declined 4.41% or 0.055 points to end at 1.192 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was down 4.21% or 0.050 points to 1.138.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 159 to 31 and 18 ended unchanged.

Gold for August delivery was up 1.24% or 16.65 to $1355.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.49% or 2.20 to hit $46.79 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 4.27% or 2.14 to trade at $47.96 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.56% to 1.1092, while EUR/GBP rose 1.29% to 0.8499.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 96.08.
