Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 2.46% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.247 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 2.35% or 0.103 points to end at 4.496 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 2.03% or 0.210 points to 10.575 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which fell 4.44% or 0.454 points to trade at 9.771 at the close. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 2.87% or 0.515 points to end at 17.405 and Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) was down 1.39% or 0.063 points to 4.474.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 96 to 90 and 27 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 1.12% or 14.95 to $1353.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.19 to trade at $50.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.04% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8388.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.63.
