Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 3.87%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Santander (MADRID:SAN), which rose 6.01% or 0.385 points to trade at 6.791 at the close. Meanwhile, Iberdrola (MADRID:IBE) added 5.32% or 0.322 points to end at 6.378 and Banco Popular (MADRID:POP) was up 5.09% or 0.230 points to 4.739 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Jazztel (MADRID:JAZ), which fell 0.42% or 0.055 points to trade at 12.920 at the close. Obrascon Huarte Lain (MADRID:OHL) declined 0.12% or 0.020 points to end at 16.850 and Mediaset ESP (MADRID:TL5) was up 0.83% or 0.100 points to 12.150.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 169 to 44 and 1 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 1.59% or 19.10 to $1182.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.78% or 0.47 to hit $59.50 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.91% or 0.57 to trade at $62.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1350, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.7176.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 94.48.
