Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Financial Services & Real Estate and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which rose 4.70% or 0.515 points to trade at 11.465 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 2.20% or 0.156 points to end at 7.252 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was up 2.12% or 0.785 points to 37.845 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Acerinox (MC:ACX), which fell 0.96% or 0.125 points to trade at 12.935 at the close. Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA) declined 0.60% or 0.80 points to end at 131.55 and Bankinter (MC:BKT) was down 0.48% or 0.036 points to 7.459.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 98 to 70 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.12% or 0.785 to 37.845.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.97% or 11.05 to $1131.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.47% or 0.25 to hit $53.31 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.75% or 0.41 to trade at $55.33 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.0389, while EUR/GBP rose 0.30% to 0.8414.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 103.30.
