Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.70%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which rose 4.39% or 0.200 points to trade at 4.752 at the close. Meanwhile, ACS Const. (MC:ACS) added 3.91% or 1.005 points to end at 26.695 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 3.54% or 0.348 points to 10.185 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Endesa (MC:ELE), which fell 1.03% or 0.180 points to trade at 17.240 at the close. Iberdrola (MC:IBE) declined 0.72% or 0.043 points to end at 5.951 and B. Sabadell (MC:SABE) was down 0.49% or 0.008 points to 1.625.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 148 to 56 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.69% or 8.60 to $1228.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.63% or 0.24 to hit $38.52 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 0.95% or 0.38 to trade at $40.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1326, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.7873.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.32% at 94.87.
