Investing.com – Poland stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Energy and Information Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 lost 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were OrangePL (WA:OPL), which rose 4.53% or 0.35 points to trade at 8.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Globe Trade Centre SA (WA:GTCP) added 3.84% or 0.23 points to end at 6.22 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 2.00% or 0.65 points to 33.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE), which fell 4.47% or 0.16 points to trade at 3.42 at the close. Energa SA (WA:ENGP) declined 3.16% or 0.62 points to end at 19.00 and Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) was down 2.58% or 1.48 points to 55.82.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 350 to 196 and 115 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) fell to all time lows; losing 4.47% or 0.16 to 3.42. Shares in Energa SA (WA:ENGP) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.16% or 0.62 to 19.00. Shares in Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.00% or 0.65 to 33.15.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.30% or 0.13 to $42.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $49.72 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.42% or 15.70 to trade at $1123.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.16% to 4.1887, while USD/PLN fell 1.56% to 3.7405.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.22% at 96.05.
