Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Chemicals and Energy sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 added 2.41%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Lubelski Wegiel Bogdanka SA (WA:LWBP), which rose 6.96% or 2.43 points to trade at 37.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Enea SA (WA:ENAE) added 5.04% or 0.48 points to end at 10.00 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 4.95% or 3.39 points to 71.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Powszechny Zaklad Ubezpieczen SA (WA:PZU), which fell 0.25% or 0.07 points to trade at 27.64 at the close. Polski Koncern Naftowy ORLEN SA (WA:PKN) added 0.14% or 0.09 points to end at 64.36 and ING Bank Śląski SA (WA:INGP) was up 0.52% or 0.65 points to 125.65.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 288 to 183 and 193 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.97% or 0.44 to $44.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.92% or 0.43 to hit $46.33 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.35 to trade at $1359.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.33% to 4.4304, while USD/PLN rose 0.37% to 4.0098.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.34% at 96.64.
