Investing.com – Poland stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the WIG30 were Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW), which rose 5.32% or 3.68 points to trade at 72.89 at the close. Meanwhile, Alior Bank SA (WA:ALRR) added 4.56% or 2.88 points to end at 65.98 and Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) was up 4.10% or 2.05 points to 51.99 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kernel Holding SA (WA:KER), which fell 2.92% or 2.25 points to trade at 74.70 at the close. Bank Millennium SA (WA:MILP) declined 2.65% or 0.18 points to end at 6.62 and Powszechna Kasa Oszczednosci Bank Polski SA (WA:PKO) was down 2.41% or 0.81 points to 32.79.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Warsaw Stock Exchange by 336 to 228 and 194 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupa Lotos SA (WA:LTSP) rose to all time highs; gaining 4.10% or 2.05 to 51.99.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.97% or 1.58 to $51.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 2.79% or 1.56 to hit $54.36 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.55% or 6.65 to trade at $1209.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.03% to 4.3034, while USD/PLN rose 0.20% to 4.0819.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 102.13.
