  • PG&E (NYSE:PCG) is sued by Calpine's Geysers Power unit for the utility's role in a 2013 fire that destroyed one of its power plants, causing more than $20M in damages.
  • Geysers claims an oil-filled circuit breaker in a PG&E switchyard exploded and sparked a fire that spread across thousands of acres in Sonoma County, Calif., and destroyed its McCabe 5/6 power plant; the lawsuit also says PG&E failed to properly maintain the high-voltage transmission equipment that caused the fire.
  • Geysers says the companies attempted to resolve disputes about PG&E’s liability related to the McCabe plant and its operations, but the negotiations failed to result in a deal.
