Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 1.16% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN), which rose 1.45% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 0.72% or 0.10 points to end at 13.90 and Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 95.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 9.27% or 0.140 points to trade at 1.380 at the close. Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) declined 6.81% or 0.32 points to end at 4.38 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was down 3.22% or 0.77 points to 23.15.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 22 to 17 and 45 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.14% or 0.48 to $41.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.95% or 0.42 to hit $43.87 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.58% or 21.65 to trade at $1345.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.13% to 355.820, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 322.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 96.11.
