Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 declined 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which rose 4.84% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) added 4.35% or 0.04 points to end at 0.96 and Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) was up 1.00% or 0.14 points to 14.13 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which fell 2.17% or 15.00 points to trade at 675.00 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) declined 1.82% or 0.25 points to end at 13.23 and Tiger Branded Consumer Goods PLC (LAGOS:TIGERBRD) was down 0.80% or 0.02 points to 2.48.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 21 to 16 and 53 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.07% or 0.78 to $36.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.01% or 0.80 to hit $39.04 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.13% or 13.80 to trade at $1237.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.13% to 226.380, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.150.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 94.50.
