Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Food, Beverages & Tobacco and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.23%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Zenithbank (LAGOS:ZENITHB), which rose 8.84% or 1.45 points to trade at 17.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) added 4.58% or 0.30 points to end at 6.87 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 4.83% or 0.07 points to 1.51 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 2.67% or 0.10 points to trade at 3.60 at the close. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 2.87% or 3.70 points to end at 125.22 and Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) was down 1.11% or 0.28 points to 26.54.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 37 to 18 and 40 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.41% or 0.19 to $45.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.54% or 1.69 to hit $49.31 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.21% or 2.40 to trade at $1123.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.66% to 222.280, while USD/NGN rose 0.02% to 199.130.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 96.02.
