Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Wapco (LAGOS:WAPCO), which rose 10.23% or 4.42 points to trade at 47.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) added 5.00% or 0.25 points to end at 4.99 and Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) was up 2.78% or 0.50 points to 17.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which fell 4.93% or 0.72 points to trade at 13.90 at the close. Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) declined 0.73% or 0.11 points to end at 15.01 and Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) was down 0.16% or 0.20 points to 124.80.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos by 23 to 15 and 67 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $51.14 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.37% or 0.20 to hit $54.37 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.87% or 10.90 to trade at $1247.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.26% to 335.840, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 317.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 100.62.
