Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Oil & Gas and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.89% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Nestle Nig (LAGOS:NESTLE), which rose 4.84% or 39.70 points to trade at 859.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Nig Brew (LAGOS:NB) added 4.26% or 5.97 points to end at 146.99 and Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB) was up 3.98% or 0.13 points to 3.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dangflour (LAGOS:DANGFLO), which fell 4.93% or 0.14 points to trade at 2.71 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) declined 4.00% or 0.040 points to end at 1.000 and Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) was down 2.90% or 0.20 points to 6.70.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 28 to 23 and 38 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 2.30% or 1.05 to $44.65 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 2.23% or 1.08 to hit $47.52 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.03% or 11.80 to trade at $1133.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.06% to 222.410, while USD/NGN rose 0.01% to 199.050.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.24% at 96.13.
