Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Banking and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 rose 0.60%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT), which rose 3.90% or 0.85 points to trade at 22.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 3.88% or 0.56 points to end at 15.00 and Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) was up 3.85% or 0.020 points to 0.530 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Diamond Bank (LAGOS:DIAMONB), which fell 1.06% or 0.010 points to trade at 0.930 at the close. Dangsugar (LAGOS:DANGSUG) declined 0.83% or 0.05 points to end at 5.95 and Dangote Flour Mills PLC (LAGOS:DANGFLOUR) was 0.00% or 0.00 points to 3.55.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 20 to 18 and 51 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 8.45% or 3.82 to $49.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 8.79% or 4.16 to hit $51.48 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 1.31% or 15.55 to trade at $1175.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 1.45% to 331.940, while USD/NGN rose 0.16% to 316.000.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.68% at 101.67.
