Investing.com – Nigeria stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 added 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the NSE 30 were Tiger Branded Consumer Goods PLC (LAGOS:TIGERBRD), which rose 4.78% or 0.11 points to trade at 2.41 at the close. Meanwhile, Guaranty Bnk (LAGOS:GUARANT) added 3.00% or 0.46 points to end at 15.81 and Access Bank (LAGOS:ACCESS) was up 2.21% or 0.08 points to 3.71 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN), which unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to trade at 4.54 at the close. Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ) declined 4.10% or 0.87 points to end at 20.50 and Firstcity Bnk (LAGOS:FCMB) was down 3.19% or 0.03 points to 0.91.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lagos Stock Exchange by 18 to 13 and 56 ended unchanged.
Shares in Union Bank LG (LAGOS:UBN) unchanged to 3-years lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to 4.54.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 2.69% or 1.11 to $42.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 2.26% or 0.97 to hit $43.88 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.65% or 20.40 to trade at $1255.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.34% to 225.790, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 199.150.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.54% at 93.94.
