Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.90%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which fell 0.05% or 0.04 points to trade at 88.26 at the close. Meanwhile, Randstad (AS:RAND) fell 0.15% or 0.07 points to end at 47.31 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was down 0.20% or 0.03 points to 15.25 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which fell 2.53% or 0.090 points to trade at 3.466 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) declined 2.25% or 0.110 points to end at 4.770 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was down 1.92% or 1.09 points to 55.75.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 123 to 40 and 10 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.23% to 23.18 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.27% or 0.65 to $50.58 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.01% or 0.53 to hit $51.98 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.91% or 11.55 to trade at $1273.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1318, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7823.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 94.02.
