Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Fishery, Mining and Rubber sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 30.39% or 62.0 points to trade at 266.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) added 7.17% or 20.0 points to end at 299.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) was up 7.07% or 20.0 points to 303.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332), which fell 13.34% or 85.0 points to trade at 552.0 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) declined 12.67% or 37.0 points to end at 255.0 and Mitsubishi Materials Corp. (T:5711) was down 11.11% or 39.0 points to 312.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1514 to 434 and 55 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.04% to 27.30.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.16% or 0.54 to $46.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.87% or 0.42 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.35% or 4.45 to trade at $1275.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.40% to 108.59, while EUR/JPY fell 0.69% to 123.20.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.29.
