Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Insurance, Steel and Precision Instruments sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taisei Corp. (T:1801), which rose 1.39% or 10.5 points to trade at 764.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303) added 1.25% or 2.0 points to end at 161.5 and JGC Corp. (T:1963) was up 1.05% or 19.0 points to 1834.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which fell 5.51% or 20.0 points to trade at 343.0 at the close. Denki Kagaku Kogyo K.K. (T:4061) declined 5.50% or 24.0 points to end at 412.0 and TDK Corp. (T:6762) was down 5.17% or 370.0 points to 6780.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1631 to 338 and 99 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.84% to 20.52.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.41% or 0.21 to $51.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.48% or 0.25 to hit $52.66 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1257.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.08% to 103.59, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 114.47.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 97.59.
