Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Insurance, Mining and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (T:6703), which rose 3.97% or 6.0 points to trade at 157.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 2.69% or 13.0 points to end at 496.0 and Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) was up 2.23% or 39.0 points to 1791.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JTEKT Corp. (T:6473), which fell 4.73% or 77.0 points to trade at 1551.0 at the close. Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) declined 3.91% or 85.0 points to end at 2091.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) was down 3.53% or 11.0 points to 301.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 927 to 816 and 147 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.13% to 25.44 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.32% or 0.49 to $36.69 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.21% or 0.48 to hit $39.05 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 1.25% or 15.60 to trade at $1229.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.34% to 113.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.33% to 125.97.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 96.61.
