Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Transport and Mining sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were IHI Corp. (T:7013), which rose 6.11% or 14.0 points to trade at 243.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) added 5.38% or 15.0 points to end at 294.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was up 4.95% or 155.0 points to 3285.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101), which fell 4.02% or 79.0 points to trade at 1885.0 at the close. Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (T:5703) declined 3.61% or 7.0 points to end at 187.0 and Sony Financial Holdings Inc. (T:8729) was down 3.47% or 52.0 points to 1448.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1031 to 768 and 85 ended unchanged.
Shares in Konami Corp. (T:9766) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 4.95% or 155.0 to 3285.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.04% to 23.77.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.94% or 0.37 to $39.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.03% or 0.42 to hit $40.45 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.60 to trade at $1220.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 113.61, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 127.19.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 96.04.
