Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Gas & Water, Food and Pharmaceutical Industry sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which rose 4.01% or 93.0 points to trade at 2410.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Konami Corp. (T:9766) added 3.66% or 200.0 points to end at 5660.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was up 3.46% or 64.0 points to 1915.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hino Motors, Ltd. (T:7205), which fell 5.05% or 70.0 points to trade at 1315.0 at the close. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) declined 4.73% or 21.0 points to end at 423.0 and NTN Corp. (T:6472) was down 4.37% or 24.0 points to 525.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1531 to 1525 and 330 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 10.01% to 15.05.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.82% or 0.39 to $48.05 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.76% or 0.38 to hit $50.33 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.27% or 3.41 to trade at $1283.61 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 110.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 124.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 96.73.
