Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Transportation Equipment and Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 5.98% or 46.0 points to trade at 815.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kajima Corp. (T:1812) added 4.76% or 33.0 points to end at 727.0 and Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) was up 4.40% or 8.8 points to 208.8 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sharp Corp. (T:6753), which fell 6.52% or 9.0 points to trade at 129.0 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) declined 2.19% or 6.0 points to end at 268.0 and Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) was down 1.99% or 47.5 points to 2339.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1683 to 156 and 51 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 10.69% to 22.64 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.17% or 0.07 to $41.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.10% or 0.04 to hit $41.58 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 0.34% or 4.20 to trade at $1248.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 112.07, while EUR/JPY rose 0.23% to 126.13.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.31.
