Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Fishery and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911), which rose 5.12% or 112.5 points to trade at 2310.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3110) added 4.68% or 22.0 points to end at 492.0 and Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (TOKYO:2002) was up 4.05% or 57.0 points to 1465.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Yusen K.K (TOKYO:9101), which fell 2.62% or 10.0 points to trade at 372.0 at the close. Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (TOKYO:5703) declined 1.84% or 4.0 points to end at 213.0 and Nikon Corp. (TOKYO:7731) was down 1.69% or 26.0 points to 1510.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 408 to 187.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.16% to 18.44.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.30% or 0.18 to $60.06 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.50% or 0.33 to hit $65.94 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.46% or 5.70 to trade at $1221.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 119.97, while EUR/JPY fell 0.21% to 135.49.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 94.32.
