Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Shipbuilding sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770), which rose 5.47% or 118.0 points to trade at 2277.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Ebara Corp. (T:6361) added 5.19% or 28.0 points to end at 567.0 and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (T:4183) was up 4.99% or 20.0 points to 421.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Kayaku Co., Ltd. (T:4272), which fell 4.96% or 55.0 points to trade at 1054.0 at the close. Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (T:3863) declined 3.05% or 59.0 points to end at 1875.0 and Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) was down 2.61% or 47.0 points to 1757.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1178 to 656 and 163 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.00% to 26.41.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $49.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.10% or 0.05 to hit $50.50 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.20% or 2.45 to trade at $1244.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 107.59, while EUR/JPY rose 0.08% to 122.19.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 93.99.
