Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction, Transportation Equipment and Fishery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which rose 6.21% or 30.0 points to trade at 513.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (T:4183) added 4.68% or 23.0 points to end at 514.5 and Nitto Denko Co (T:6988) was up 3.75% or 258.0 points to 7145.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which fell 2.83% or 90.0 points to trade at 3085.0 at the close. Japan Tobacco Inc (T:2914) declined 2.79% or 115.0 points to end at 4000.0 and Bridgestone Corp. (T:5108) was down 1.99% or 78.0 points to 3840.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1839 to 1038 and 397 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.21% or 30.0 to 513.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.17% to 19.27 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.78% or 0.39 to $50.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.76% or 0.39 to hit $51.91 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.50% or 6.25 to trade at $1262.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.09% to 103.99, while EUR/JPY rose 0.31% to 114.62.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 97.66.
