Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Fishery and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which rose 15.20% or 70.0 points to trade at 530.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) added 8.61% or 47.0 points to end at 593.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was up 6.42% or 42.0 points to 696.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yamaha Corp. (T:7951), which fell 11.19% or 377.0 points to trade at 2993.0 at the close. Kikkoman Corp. (T:2801) declined 5.60% or 200.0 points to end at 3370.0 and Teijin Ltd. (T:3401) was down 5.27% or 124.0 points to 2228.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1843 to 1145 and 342 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.68% to 20.68.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.45% or 0.24 to $54.07 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.44% or 0.25 to hit $57.06 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 4.20 to trade at $1225.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 112.66, while EUR/JPY rose 0.07% to 121.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 99.78.
