Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Finance & Investment and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.15% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 4.72% or 11.0 points to trade at 244.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) added 3.27% or 6.8 points to end at 214.8 and Marui Group Co., Ltd. (T:8252) was up 2.95% or 45.0 points to 1568.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nisshin Steel Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5413), which fell 2.41% or 39.0 points to trade at 1578.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 2.19% or 37.0 points to end at 1649.0 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) was down 2.16% or 41.5 points to 1882.5.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1510 to 1503 and 351 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.34% to 14.74.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.60% or 0.29 to $48.20 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.43% or 0.22 to hit $51.15 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.66% or 7.95 to trade at $1209.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 114.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.18% to 122.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.36% at 101.01.
