Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Financial Services and Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.15% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233), which rose 9.56% or 27.0 points to trade at 309.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) added 7.08% or 17.0 points to end at 257.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) was up 4.35% or 3.0 points to 72.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (T:7211), which fell 4.00% or 24.0 points to trade at 575.5 at the close. Komatsu Ltd. (T:6301) declined 2.46% or 58.5 points to end at 2320.5 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was down 2.43% or 14.0 points to 563.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1923 to 1026 and 350 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) rose to 52-week highs; up 4.35% or 3.0 to 72.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.00% to 18.20 a new 52-week low.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 1.10% or 0.55 to $49.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.89% or 0.45 to hit $50.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.16% or 2.05 to trade at $1275.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 104.17, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 113.63.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 98.58.
