Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Marine Transport and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801), which rose 5.13% or 210.0 points to trade at 4300.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479) added 3.28% or 50.0 points to end at 1576.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) was up 3.27% or 16.0 points to 506.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (T:8750), which fell 3.50% or 81.3 points to trade at 2243.0 at the close. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) declined 3.16% or 6.0 points to end at 183.8 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) was down 3.11% or 58.5 points to 1825.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1949 to 1042 and 342 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.17% to 15.95.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.31% or 0.64 to $49.50 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.41% or 0.73 to hit $52.54 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 2.31% or 27.75 to trade at $1228.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.35% to 112.99, while EUR/JPY fell 0.39% to 121.23.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 100.34.
