Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Chemicals and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 fell 3.81% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Snam (MI:SRG), which rose 0.57% or 0.028 points to trade at 4.946 at the close. Meanwhile, Leonardo Finmeccanica SpA (MI:LDOF) fell 0.11% or 0.010 points to end at 9.240 and Italcementi (MI:ITAI) was down 0.57% or 0.060 points to 10.430 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO), which fell 10.08% or 0.2940 points to trade at 2.6220 at the close. Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) declined 9.90% or 0.0481 points to end at 0.4380 and Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) was down 9.14% or 0.0505 points to 0.5020.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 373 to 32 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Popolare Sc (MI:BAPO) fell to all time lows; down 10.08% or 0.2940 to 2.6220. Shares in Banca Popolare di Milano Scarl (MI:PMII) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.90% or 0.0481 to 0.4380.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.61% or 0.30 to $48.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.59% or 0.30 to hit $50.24 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.90% or 11.45 to trade at $1287.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.1279, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.7929.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 94.45.
