Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Oil & Gas and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 declined 0.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which rose 4.96% or 0.36 points to trade at 7.62 at the close. Meanwhile, Luxottica Group (MILAN:LUX) added 1.69% or 1.00 points to end at 60.25 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was up 0.78% or 0.08 points to 10.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI), which fell 2.61% or 0.310 points to trade at 11.570 at the close. Tod'S (MILAN:TOD) declined 2.61% or 2.15 points to end at 80.20 and ENI (MILAN:ENI) was down 2.39% or 0.33 points to 13.49.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 284 to 177 and 4 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.94% or 0.37 to $38.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $43.08 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.31% or 14.90 to trade at $1123.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 1.09% to 1.1394, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.7362.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.97% at 94.83.
