Investing.com – Italy stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Chemicals and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB fell 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Buzzi Unicem (MILAN:BZU), which rose 1.91% or 0.27 points to trade at 14.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Saipem (MILAN:SPMI) added 1.82% or 0.21 points to end at 11.73 and Tenaris (MILAN:TENR) was up 1.25% or 0.18 points to 14.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM), which fell 4.43% or 0.410 points to trade at 8.855 at the close. Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) declined 3.74% or 1.12 points to end at 28.81 and Finmeccanica (MILAN:SIFI) was down 3.16% or 0.360 points to 11.050.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 345 to 128 and 5 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 3.28% or 1.84 to $58.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 3.36% or 2.10 to hit $64.83 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.34% or 4.00 to trade at $1190.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.90% to 1.0821, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7184.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.76% at 97.50.
