Investing.com – Italy stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the FTSE MIB gained 1.06%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE MIB were Telecom Italia (MILAN:TLIT), which rose 4.05% or 0.045 points to trade at 1.155 at the close. Meanwhile, Salvatore Ferragamo (MILAN:SFER) added 2.14% or 0.57 points to end at 27.25 and Atlantia (MILAN:ATL) was up 2.09% or 0.45 points to 21.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Saipem (MILAN:SPMI), which fell 5.00% or 0.48 points to trade at 9.21 at the close. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MILAN:BMPS) declined 2.19% or 0.0410 points to end at 1.8290 and STMicroelectronics (MILAN:STM) was down 1.11% or 0.080 points to 7.120.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Milan Stock Exchange by 242 to 225 and 1 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.76% or 0.46 to $60.79 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.85% or 0.55 to hit $64.42 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.95% or 23.00 to trade at $1199.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.58% to 1.1403, while EUR/GBP rose 0.35% to 0.7185.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 94.07.
