Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Food and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 3.83% to hit a new 3-years low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr), which rose 5.16% or 0.05 points to trade at 1.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Autohellas (AT:AUTr) added 3.86% or 0.39 points to end at 10.50 and Sarantiseg (AT:SRSr) was up 2.82% or 0.20 points to 7.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr), which fell 12.75% or 0.083 points to trade at 0.568 at the close. National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) declined 10.87% or 0.03 points to end at 0.20 and Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) was down 9.09% or 0.150 points to 1.500.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 65 to 21 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Eurobank Ergasias SA (AT:EURBr) fell to 52-week lows; losing 12.75% or 0.083 to 0.568. Shares in National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) fell to all time lows; down 10.87% or 0.03 to 0.20. Shares in Alpha Bank SA (AT:ACBr) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.09% or 0.150 to 1.500.
Gold for April delivery was up 1.13% or 12.90 to $1154.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.77% or 0.25 to hit $32.53 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.17 to trade at $34.87 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.1184, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.7666.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.60% at 96.66.
