Investing.com – Greece stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Utilities and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite lost 2.50% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr), which rose 1.94% or 0.4050 points to trade at 21.2350 at the close. Meanwhile, Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) added 1.79% or 0.020 points to end at 1.140 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 1.55% or 0.040 points to 2.620 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which fell 7.91% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.163 at the close. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 7.41% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.1620 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) was down 6.85% or 0.010 points to 0.136.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 71 to 23 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.79% or 0.020 to 1.140.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.54% or 6.65 to $1242.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.58% or 0.30 to hit $52.47 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.74% or 0.41 to trade at $55.46 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.0707, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 100.09.
